Derrubando muros con pintura 2016

Mon Lendoiro’s work hides a story that it is about life, innocence and the world of children, but also with hope in the face of diversity. The main character is a pink elephant with a boy and a girl, the animals that live with them in the jungle and a dog, the faithful friend. The mural reflects an incredible and original underworld, typical of children, as the author points out, who was inspired by a dream he had during a stay in hospital.
Like his previous work for the Derrubando muros con pintura project, which is opposite the Rego da Balsa library, the Luis Calvo street’s wall also shows children-influenced aesthetic, naive. In this sense, Lendoiro agrees with the Japanese painter Yoshiro Tachibana in stating that childhood is an underworld where is worthwhile returning to because adults are boring and we lose innocence; we grow up and forget about the way we used to see the world”. This drawing was also chosen to raise awareness about cancer in Santiago de Compostela.
